Way away in the east tower of the school was where the Divination class was situated. It was a circlar room, filled with low tables that would seat two - maybe three - people. At these tables were poofy pillows, which was where students were to sit while in the classroom.
At the head of the room, there was a chalkboard, and beneath this chalkboard was a large, burgundy pillow - the professor's desk? No, the professor's pillow!
However, the professor was not seated at this pillow, she was busy sprinkling flower petals and poupouri throughout the room and adjusting the colored scarves over the lamps. Who would have such a classroom? Anika Romanova, Divination professor, of course!
"Okay. Now time to write the lesson on the board," Anika muttered to herself, putting the jar of poupouri back on a wodden shelf anchored to the wall. Kicking her pillow asided she stood tiptoe in front of the chalkboard, her hand poised with chalk in hand, ready to write.
"Alrighty, then," she muttered once more, and after she was finished writing she stepped back to admire her work. The blackboard read:
Today's Lesson: Reading tea leaves. Why? To read fates and other going-ons, of course. Procedure: Each student fill a cup with tea, drink it, and wait a minute or two for the tea leaves a the bottom to settle - DO NOT SWALLOW THE TEA LEAVES! Pass cups to partner to determine each other's shapes and images shown in the tea leaves. Write down what you see and you will be graded on your accuracy. Please do not drain cups once finished with them, for I will come around to check said accuracy.
With a flick of her wand, tea cups and tea pots appeared on every table in the room, as well as a copy of The Tales of Tea Leaves for each placing. Pulling her pillow back into place, Anika seated herself upon, cross-legged, and immersing herself in In-Depth Numerology whilst waiting for her students to arrive.
(NOTE: The deadline to arrive to class on time will be JULY 20, 2006. This gives you one week from today to attend class and participate in the assignment.)

Sofia Reynolds, a fourth year of Eagles House, stepped into Professor Romanova's classroom, shocked at what she found: absurd draperies cover the lamps, flower petals sprinkled here and there, pillows and tables instead of desks and chairs. "I'm gonna like it here," Sofia said, grinning. "Groovy style."
"Good afternoon, Professor Romanova," Sofia said, taking a seat on an particularly poofy white pillow at a small circular table near the front. Looking up at the board for the assignment, she took out her Divination notebook and copied down the assignment, chuckling softly at the style in which Professor Romanova had written it, much less the way the room was decorated. The room was young, hip, and fresh, or so it seemed to Sofia as she took the feel of the room in.

Melissa walked into class next. As soon as she entered, she started coughing followed by a row of sneezing. Flowers and poupouri, she thought bitterly. She stepped out of the room quickly and casted a charm on herself so her allergies wouldn't bother her. After she reentered the room, she saw Sofia and sat down next to her with some difficulty. "Good afternoon, professor," she said to the woman in the room. "Hi,"she said, quietly. Then she examined the board and copied the lesson in a notebook. When she was finished she waited for the professor to speak.
(Sorry but just so you know, I'll be away from the 15th- 22nd)

Professor Anika Romanova looked up from her book at the girls who had entered. "Good afternoon, Miss Reynolds, Miss Murray," she greeted them, a smile on her face. She shut the book and left it on her pillow while she got up and checked off the the names 'Sofia Reynolds' and 'Melissa Murray' from the list hanging on the wall next to the chalkboard. "Once the rest of the class appears, we can begin. I assume you two will be partnering up?" Turning around, she saw a boy enter. Anika had just caught his name as he had said it, 'Kandor Vidic.' She had then again consulted her list: she did not see his name. "Excuse me - Kandor Vidic, did you say? I don't seem to have you registered to take Divination. However, if you'd like, you may kindly register now," Anika told him. "And I rather like the flower petals, adds a homey feeling," she added, smiling at the comment he made about never before seeing real flower petals in his life. (NOTE: Once you reigster in the proper forum, I can then add you to the Class List. )

Sofia copied the lesson into her notebook just as Melissa plopped down beside her. "Hey," she said, greeting Melissa bightly. "Okay," she continued in a hushed voice, "this classroom is groovy! Totally hippie-esque! I've found out that Professor Romanova is only eighteen. Eighteen! Can you believe it? That's awfully young to be teach -" but Sofia was cut off for Professor Romanova had greeted them and told them the class would start as soon as everyone else arrived. Then, the professor had asked them if they were to be partnered up for this class. Sofia looked over at Melissa and said, "Wuddya say? Partners?"
While waiting for Melissa to reply, Sofia turned for another classmate had entered the room: Kandor Vidic, who Sofia had known to be of Russian ancestry like herself. She watched as he picked up a flower petal and make a comment about it and smirked slightly: she didn't reckon most boys that age cared much for flower petals, but everyone was different. She herself had never seen certain things until she came to America a few years ago, like tank tops. It was always so cold in the part of Russia where she had lived. She watched as Professor Romanova told him he had to register and then looked at the book in front of her that the professor had supplied: The Tales of Tea Leaves. Picking it up, Sofia flipped to a page about tea leaves shaped as potatoes and kittens and was seemingly amused.

Melissa smiled at Sofia and then turned to the professor. "Yes, we will be partners."
She smiled at Kandor next. "Hey, Kandor. I didn't know you were taking this class."

"Cool," Sofia replied, nodding to Professor Romanova.
Sofia nodded at what Melissa said to Kandor about taking the Divination course. "Yeah, I didn't see your name on the registration sheet. But, I do suppose the more the merrier, right?"

"Right." Melissa was very relieved to see that two of her friends were taking the same class. It might just make school bearable on a bad day.

Melissa was surprised and slightly hurt. Why was he being so cold to her? She couldn't remember offending him. Well, except that first day, but he wasn't so cold to her before. "They're tea leaves," she said though gritted teeth. "We're reading them to predict futures." Then she turned so her back was facing him.

Sofia hopped up and grabbed Kandor by his wrists, yanked them behind his back, pinned him to the ground, and sat on top of him. Whipping out her wand, she said, "Kandor, love, I don't want to have to hurt you, but if you ever dare of thinking of doing that again, I'll hex you six ways past Sunday," Sofia told him, through gritted teeth.
