Ok. The poll is up. I would like to thank the two people who participated. I gave them both karma as a reward for their help. I was hoping for more to help... however, I added my own ideas just to add more choice.
As you will notice, #2 is a picture not a description because I received a picture.
Below are the descriptions/pictures of all of your choices. Please choose the one you think is best. Just choose the number above that matches the one below.
Please read all choices before choosing.
1) It should be a long, semi-wide room, at least two or three floors high. Along the walls, there should be high, arched windows with, long, flowing drapes that brighten up the room (possibly white or a warm, rich colour). As for the wall colour, I would aim for warm, rich tones, such as a Tuscan yellow or an autumn red. The trim for the library should be a rich dark wood, possibly redwood or rosewood, or even a rich oak or willow wood (I'm all for oak!). As for flooring, I'm thinking of two media: wooden flooring to match the trim, or a rug, possibly a warm blue to match the warm colors. I'm basically aiming for a tone of warmth throughout the library as a place of safety and welcome.
The bookshelves should be long and towering, and great in number, but not so much so that it becomes a labyrinth, because that would just right confuse people. I'm thinking of maybe an oak wood, but make sure there is metal panels inside the shelving planks strong enough to withstand the weight of the books. To make it convenient, I think that there should be slender plaques to separate genres and different disciplines and subjects if learning, so you know what you're looking for. And, as for alphabetical order, I wouldn't do it alphabetically by author such as Borders does, because there is always the possibility that a student or teacher has no knowledge of the author's name, henceforth mass chaos, which is always something one should be keen to avoid.
As for seating, there should be long, oak tables complete with benches or chairs for students to do homework or study or prepare for imminent examinations. But, if a student or teacher is partaking in leisurely reading, said person would be more comfortable, which is why I think there should be squishy armchairs, or possibly chintz armchairs, with ottomans for comfort. There could even be a fire place on each level to be lit on the coldest of winter's days, or when there is a chill in the air.
As for the librarian's desk, she should have a good amount of drawers for keeping records and such in, such as check-out books/cards or catalog cards.

3) Double gates open to a large room, two stories with a large marble fireplace on the other end. Smooth wood floors are covered with large beautiful rugs spent randomly though-out both floors.
On both floors are separate rooms with glass walls and large book cases fill each one with wooden tables hidden behind each. Silver and bronze plaques mark each room by subject.
Large windows are on the far side of the second floor. In the middle of the floor, is a large square opening looking over the first floor with glass fencing in the open space with tables along the edges.
In the center and far side of the first floor are smaller book cases with various magazines and newspapers, again marked with plaques. The center is filled with wooden tables and chairs for those who are studying, slightly separate from the far end with large walls covered with bulletin boards with messages or notices from students and staff. The far end however, is filled with comfortable arm chairs and couches for those who just want to relax and read/talk/gossip.
The books themselves, are everyone ever written and are in various languages. There are several copies for each title in case one is borrowed and someone else wants it.
Thank you very much for voting and reading. Results will be up as soon as I feel enough have voted. I will post the winner's name and house as soon as the polls come down and set up a separate thread with the winner's description. Thank you.
